The final surveying-related bill left at the Statehouse from this legislative session was signed into law Wednesday.

Gov. Eric Holcomb signed Senate Enrolled Act 229: Maintenance of Regulated Drains on March 25. The new law means a permit is no longer required from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management for the reconstruction or maintenance of regulated drains for purposes of the law concerning state-regulated wetlands.

Practicing land surveyor and ISPLS member State Sen. Blake Doriot, R-Elkhart, was a co-author of the bill.

The law takes effect July 1, 2020.
