NSPS secures language in broadband mapping bill

Congress sent President Donald Trump a bill last week aimed at improving - or offering for the first time - broadband internet service throughout the United States.

 

Accurately mapping the availability of broadband internet service is essential to promoting the deployment of high-speed service to all Americans, especially those in unserved and underserved areas.

 

S. 1822 is actually a combination of two previous bills. The new unified bill would issue new rules requiring the collection and dissemination of granular broadband availability data, establish a process to verify the accuracy of such data, and more; and specify it is unlawful to willfully, knowingly or recklessly submit inaccurate broadband service data.
