During the past eight months, Ryan Swingley, Randy Allen, myself and few volunteers have been attending middle and high school career fairs promoting the surveying profession to middle and high school students. We have visited schools in Marion, Hancock, Orange, Boone and Monroe counties, and now ISPLS has connections with counselors and/or JAG teachers at each of these schools. We have been asked to return to future career fairs at the schools and a few schools would like us to visit a classroom to discuss surveying.

We will visit high schools in Sheridan, Elkhart and Indianapolis on November 13 and 14 and we can use some help. I would like to invite you to volunteer in manning our booths with me and Ryan at each of the upcoming career fairs. You do not need any special skills, just a passion for the surveying profession and willingness to talk with kids about it. Ryan and I will provide some simple instructions and you will not be on your own during the career fair.

We also need your help in connecting with schools and getting invited to future career fairs in your communities. If you have any contacts through your child’s school system or your old alma mater, please share it with Brian Lewis, Ryan or myself and we will then contact the schools. We need champions who have the connections with the schools and the love for communities where they live and work for this program to be successful.

I look forward to working you at the next career fair in your community school.

Thanks for you time.
