The ISPLS Central Indiana Chapter will sponsor a Surveying Merit Badge workshop from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Camp Belzer, 6102 Boy Scout Road, in northeast Marion County.

The cost to attend the workshop will be $15 per Scout, and the workshop is limited to 12 Scouts so each participant can have hands-on experience with equipment used in surveying. Instruction will be provided by chapter members, and the chapter will provide pizza for lunch.

Sessions will be held in the King Family Library room at the camp’s Activity Center and in a nearby activity area on a course with five brass corner markers placed by chapter members in 2008.

Surveying Merit Badge was one of the original 57 badges offered in 1911 when the first BSA Handbook was printed. The badge was the third-rarest earned in 2017, when a total of 1,028 were awarded.
