ISPLS Webinar - best practices in accurate and profitable drone surveying
one (1) Indiana elective Continuing Education Unit*

Speaker: Daniel Katz, Aerotas

Flying a drone is easy, but creating a successful drone surveying program is complex. Drone technology is enabling many surveyors to grow their businesses despite a nationwide shortage of hirable survey staff. However, surveyors need to be sure they are getting the best accuracy and return on investment from their drone survey programs.

In this seminar, Daniel Katz of Aerotas will share lessons from implementing drone programs for hundreds of surveyors nationwide and completing thousands of data processing projects. Key topics include: benchmarks for a successful drone program, analysis of the current state of drone technology, and best practices in drone survey project workflow.

Learning Objectives:

  1. What goes into an effective survey-specific drone program at a survey or engineering firm.

  2. Analysis of the current state of drone technology options for surveyors, specifically drone airframes, sensors, and georeferencing options.

  3. The optimal field project workflow for drone surveying, including best practices in setting ground control for accurate drone surveying.

  4. Best practices and options for drone data processing: photogrammetry through completing CAD linework for topography and planimetry from drone data.

*A short quiz at the end of the webinar will be required to qualify for CEUs.
